Completely Satisfied - 7 Months and Going Strong...

I purchased this item after spending a great deal of time researching cordless drills. Most of the reviews I read spoke positively about the drill but I noticed a considerable amount of concern related to the batteries.

After owning the drill for 7 months and remodeling an entire home with it, I am pleased to report that this drill is my favorite tool in the garage. The battery life is great and I have no negative remarks whatsoever about the batteries or the drill.

I've used my drill for a range of tasks that include light work around the home (installing curtain rods and hanging photos) as well as heavy-duty tasks (mixing mortar and driving thousands of screws into sub-flooring in preparation for installing hardwood floors).

As a woman, I appreciate the weight of this drill, which is lighter than most drills on the market. The built-in LED light is another excellent feature on this item.

This drill may be more expensive than some of the other options out there, but it's well worth the money!

Great Drill Crap for Batteries

I received this drill as a present from my parents and it worked great for approximately 16 months. Then one day while working on a project both batteries died and would not recharge. I originally thought the charger had gone bad since I couldn't believe both batteries would crap out at the exact same time. Wrong, I took the batteries to the local Home Depot who rents tools and they put them on their chargers and receive the same "bad battery" response. So now, I have a drill with no batteries. It will cost as much for two replacement batteries as it will to purchase the entire drill package again. If I have to spend that much I would just as soon buy a drill from a manufacturer who builds better batteries. I definitely would not recommend this drill unless you are ready to purchase new batteries every year.

Be wary...

Bought this drill a while back and initially I was very happy with it. Then I had problems with the trigger jamming, and the forward/reverse switch catching.

I had that repaired, now its going again. Plus the chuck is now loosening.

I am also hearing the sound of a motor rattling as it dies.

A compact lightweight drill that is simply not an industrial tool, and not fit for the purpose.

I am a Makita man through and through, and sorry, but Makita have let me down.

Test your products before you put them on the market, boys.

Love it?

So far I love this drill. The grip and weight is amazing. Battery life for normal use is very good. I did run it consistantly under load for over 15 minutes and it went dead. That didn't seem very long but it was non-stop (snaking drain) which most would never have to do. 20 minute to recharge kept me going. The light definatly helps. I love it!

Great Drill / Driver

This is a GREAT product. The batteries charge very rapidly and Hold the charge for a long time. I store all my tools in a shed outside. I have always had problems with the batteries holding a charge in the NICAD brand. When the Lithium-Ion came about I decided to give it a try since temperture variance does not affect them as bad. So far they have held up great. The Makita brand is a def must have! It is smooth and easy to use. I am very happy with all aspects of the product. I have even ordered a cordless blower that uses the same batteries and currently awaiting its arrival.
