Black & Decker PSV1800 18-Volt Cordless Pivoting Floor Vacuum Cleaner

Cleans well, but awkward to transform from storage mode to cleaning mode further it is quite heavy. My wife never uses it!

Overall it is an excellent machine. Very powerful and very convenient to use. it is difficult to clean though. Filter emptying and cleaning may become messy.

I received this vacumm for a Christmas gift 12/09 and have used it daily ever since. Two yellow labs, one long hair cat...I take very good care of this unit, cleaning and charging it after every use. Works like a charm. However, I have noticed the battery life has been steadily diminishing. Now lasts only about 4 minutes total. Called Black and Decker to reorder rechargeable batteries and was told the cost would be $60.00!! Only paid 100.00 for the unit! Has anyone else needed to replace batteries yet?

I have a fairly cramped home office with large furniture and two computers, along with two full surge suppressors and a printer stand. I also have two cats and a fairly severe dust allergy. I needed something light, small, maneuverable and powerful enough to get up dust and regular re-applications of cat hair among all the cords and equipment. My home is a two-story new build with those annoying outlets that cut the circuit breakers if you plug anything into them that it detects as surge-y, so I was having to run my big upright vacuum cleaner from downstairs off a very long extension cord. Big pain. Not to mention that the big upright doesn't go under my desks easily.

I can now use this handy little vacuum to keep my office much cleaner. I can easily get around the computers and surge suppressors, which I have up off the floor using wire shoe racks. This vacuum even fits under the printer stand, which is fairly low to the ground. Being cordless, it also makes vacuuming the carpeted stairs from the first to second floors a much, much easier job than it used to be. Unlike another reviewer, I have had no problem with pet hair gunking up the beater bar. Given how much I empty out of it, it seems to pick up cat hair very, very well. First time I vacuumed my small office, I swear I got enough pet hair to make a third cat.

The vacuum on its charger just sits next to my recycling bin and takes up very little floor space.

I have a small house (1100 sq ft) and I was hoping that the charge would last for the whole house, it doesn't. I also have 3 cats, and the vac does not pickup the kitty litter very well, you have to go over and over the same area to get it all up.

It does an acceptable job on the carpet and the kitchen for normal type dirt/debris.

I like the way it folds up and sits in its charger. Really like that I can adjust the vac handle so it goes under the couch and chairs.
